"I was wondering how many people have a history of one or both parents with depression? Both sides of my family have a strong history, including both parents and two sisters having been hospitalized for it. Several suicides on both mother and father's sides, too. I am curious if anyone has no known family history at all--my friend insists he doesn't have any family history but he gets severely depressed."--sammyed

I know that it is possible for depresson to be hereditary.. but I’m not entirely sure. You see, i suffer from chronic depression and i take medication, but no one in my family has ever had such a severe state of depression like i do. I dont know what the real factor is, but maybe genes dont play such a big part as people think…
