FAQ: Is It Normal for a Doctor to Prescribe a Combination of Antidepressants?

Wednesday August 23, 2006
A. Yes, the combinations are pretty common. A couple of reasons to do this would be (1) you are getting partial response with one antidepressant and your doctor wants to see if augmentation will give you complete relief, or (2) if your doctor is trying to counteract the side-effects from your antidepressant. An SSRI + Wellbutrin is one common combination.
