According to Canadian research reported on by Macleans.ca, the impotence drug sildenafil (Viagra) was associated with improvement of mild depression in men who were taking it for erectile dysfunction.

Dr. Sidney Kennedy and his team studied men who had exerienced erection dificulties for about four years who also had minor depression. Men with major depression were not included in this study. After six weeks, the men who had received sildenafil had a 47% reduction in their depression scores, going from mild to minimal depression. Men who received a placebo experienced only a 26% decrease in scores and still fell into the category of mild depression.

My main criticism of this study? How do you determine whether they felt better because of the drug or because they were happy that their sexual function improved? Diminished quality of life could lead to mild depresson that would resolve when quality of life improves.

Talk about killing two birds with one stone!(or in this case, reviving two birds with one pill!).
But you make a good point. Getting his potency back would certainly “lift” a guy’s spirits too.
(Sorry, couldn’t help it…)
