While those with DID are certainly welcome to chat here, we very strongly recommend About's Incest/Abuse chat rooms because they deal with DID on a daily basis and are set up to provide a safe environment for those with this condition. If you prefer to chat in the Depression chat room, however, you must understand the limitations of this chat room and how they will affect you.
It is important to remember that though many people living with DID may also have depression, the About Depression chat room is not intended for the support of DID. The majority of those who chat here do not experience or understand DID. They may react with anything from fear to disbelief in your diagnosis. This is not fair or correct, but it will happen.
It will be up to the individual chatter to ensure that they and their "insiders" can function effectively in this type of setting. We do not allow nickname switching. All insiders will be responsible for following the rules of this chat. "Littles" are not allowed in this chat. This chat is for those who are age 13 and up and is not a safe place for younger personalities.
While we do not ban members based upon diagnosis, if those with DID violate the rules of this chat repeatedly they will be banned just as any other chatter would be. Blaming the behavior on an insider will not be accepted as an excuse.
