FAQ: What Does Depression Screening for Children Involve?

Answer: Depression screening describes the use of quick and simple tests to identify a person who may have currently have symptoms of depression. Typically, if a child screens positive for depression, he would receive further testing or evaluation to confirm a depression diagnosis, and to determine the severity of his symptoms.

For Example: The Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) or the Children's Depression Inventory (CDI) are brief tests that may be used for depression screening in children.
