Question: Should I bring my child to hear the results from her psychological testing?
Answer: There is no right or wrong answer.
A younger child may not fully understand the results of the evaluation and its implications. However, an older child may be able to offer insight into her own life, her struggles, concerns, weaknesses and strengths and therefore benefit from the discussion.
If you are unsure if you should bring your child with you to hear the results, you might ask the who psychologist tested your child. The testing psychologist may be able to offer her opinion on whether or not bringing your child to the meeting might be helpful, or tips on talking to your child about depression and mental illness.
