Question: Are Benzodiazepines Safe?
How dangerous is taking a benzodiazepine? I know that these are addictive drugs.
Answer: I'm not a medical doctor, but I'll tell you a little from my own experiences with these meds. If you use benzodiazepines in the lowest dose that works for you and you take them only as needed you run the lowest risk of becoming addicted. As long as you are using them only for the purpose intended and not using them as a crutch to sleep or "get high" then I don't think they will be a problem for you. There's a world of difference between medical dependence on a drug (i.e. using it to control symptoms) and addiction.
