Many state and provincial psychological associations offer referral directories composed of their own members. These have been indexed here by state and province.

Psychology Today screens applicants for its directory to determine if they are licensed in their area of practice. Each therapist listing may contain a photo, contact information and detailed information about insurance, fees, areas of practice, education and licensing. Therapists have the option of providing information about their malpractice insurance.

Locate mental health services of all types by state or territory. This directory does not provide a listing of doctors, but does provide information about clinics and treatment centers. SAMHSA is a federal agency that focuses on substance abuse and mental health.

The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) maintains this index of marriage and family therapists in the U.S., Canada and overseas. This listing screens the credentials of its members and includes only those with MFT (Marriage and Family Therapy) licensing.

This search engine can be used to locate credentialed health service providers in psychology based upon area of expertise, geographic location and other set criteria. Registration is free for the general public.
