Actress Ashley Judd Beats Depression, Eating Disorder
Ashley Judd, actress and daughter/half-sister of the singing duo The Judds, recently revealed that she had suffered from depression and an eating disorder.
In February of this year, she checked herself into a 47-day program at Shades of Hope Treatment Center in Texas.
She credits her husband, race car driver Dario Franchitti, for being supportive and helping her overcome her illnesses.
Speaking about her problems in the July issue of Glamour, she was quoted as saying, "Supposedly my sister was the 'messed up' one and I was the 'perfect' one." While visiting her sister, who was being treated for food addiction, her sister's counselor approached her about the possibility that because they shared the same background they also shared a risk for the same illnesses. For the first time someone was validating the emotional pain that Ashley felt.
Speaking of her recovery, Ashley told Glamour "I was unhappy and now I'm happy. Now, even when I'm having a rough day, it's better than my best day before treatment."

I have suffered depression for years. I have been dibilitated 3 times now for “depression”, and would like to know how Ms. Judd made it through, or what she suggests that I do. I read somewhere that she said, “Starting the day at 6pm is better than not starting it all.I know what she is talking about!
