So often people will ask, how can I ever forgive and forget? What happened was just too horrible. In order to heal, you don't need to forgive and trying to forget is an exercise in futility. What you do need is to let go. Letting go means taking back your power and not allowing people or circumstances in your past to victimize you anymore. It means that you refuse to waste anymore energy on things that you cannot change. Letting go is something you do for your own sake so that you can heal.
