Prozac (fluoxetine) is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that has indications for:
- treatment of major depressive disorder in adults and children 8 and older
- treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder in adults and children 7 and older
- treatment of bulimia nervosa in adults
- treatment of panic disorder (with or without agoraphobia) in adults
Fluoxetine combined with olanzapine is sold under the brand name Symbyax. It is used for:
- treatment of depressive episodes associated with bipolar I disorder in adults
- treatment of depression in adults that has not responded to other medications
