Definition: An abnormally elevated mood, characterized by feelings of euphoria, lack of inhibitions, racing thoughts, severe insomnia, pressured speech, risk taking, increased libido and irritability. In extreme cases, mania can induce hallucinations and other psychotic symptoms. Milder, less debilitating mania is called hypomania.
