Question: Is There Hope for PTSD?

I have been diagnosed as having PTSD. The depression just doesn't go away. I have heard that there is no hope for my depression with the PTSD, that prescriptions only take the edge off. Is this true? Is there no help for my depression? It is very crippling to me and my ability to function with other people.

Answer: It is true that the antidepressants are not a quick and easy solution; but, yes, there is hope. Unfortunately, the road to healing from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) may be long and painful. Therapy will be a crucial part of your recovery. Many people have reported dramatic and quick results with a new type of therapy called EMDR. You can read more about EMDR here. Recovery won't be easy and you may never be exactly as you were before the trauma, but there is light at the end of tunnel.
